Sudinfo Waterloo : Who are you actually, Mr Larsen ?
Alan Larsen : I am a New Zealander by birth but I have lived in England since I was 18 years old. I work as a historical events consultant
SW : Who were your competitors for playing the duke of Wellington in June 2015 ?
AL : There were no other competitors for the role of Wellington. The fellow who had previously played him retired in 2012 and I was asked by Laurence Nelis (NDLR : ASBL Bataille de Waterloo 1815) to take on the role.
SW : Did you already play this role ?
AL : Once before at Waterloo in 2013.
SW : What do you think about Waterloo and Belgium ?
AL : I have been to Waterloo on a number of occasions, also to Bruges. I love Belgian beer and frites!
SW : How do you feel after your appointment ?
AL : It is an honour to be asked.
SW : How would you describe Wellington ?
AL : A winning general who safeguarded the lives of his men where possible. He was also a superb horseman and had elegant taste in clothes.
SW : What is your program during Waterloo 2015 ?
AL : I am not sure yet, waiting on final details from Laurence Nelis. I am hoping to travel over to Waterloo in April for a meeting with her.
SW : What do you think about Frank Samson, the actor of Napoleon in June 2015 ?
AL : He is very French..
SW : How does the British people consider the battle of Waterloo and its re-enactment in June 2015 ?
AL : They are very interested. For them Waterloo marked the beginning of 40 years of peace and prosperity after the blood shed of the Napoleonic wars.
